My brother-in-law, my wife, and I had a fantastic evening sampling malts at C.B. Hannegan’s in Los Gatos, CA this past weekend. Check out their (slightly outdated) malt list here. Nothing says Thanksgiving like seven glasses of Single-Malt Scotch! (We split them, don’t look at me like that.)
We started with a golden dram of Glenmorangie Nectar D’Or (each). Wow. This amber beauty was like drinking liquid honey, but more so. This guy just shot up my “want a bottle” list! Next we split a glass of Bunnahabhain 12 (My brother-in-law had to teach the waitress the correct pronunciation), an Auchentoshan 10 (my first true Lowlander!), an Aberlour 10 (like the A’Bunadh, but less so), a gorgeous Macallan 18 (smooth and flawless, possibly the best whisky I’ve ever had), and a Caol Ila 12 (peaty and complex). Reviews to follow, of course.
We’ll be going back at Christmas time. 😀
